Guide Program

Guide Program Overview

The Guide Program is divided into 4 Program Areas, Camping Badges, Service Badges, Interest Badges, and the Lady Baden-Powell Challenge.

Guide Enrolment PinIn order to be enrolled as a Guide, a girl needs to:
  • Participate in a Promise and Law activities that shows you understand the Promise.
  • Know the Motto, the Guide Sign and the Handshake
  • Know how to tie your tie with a reef knot
  • Attend 3 Guide meetings




Program Areas
Each program area is further divided into 4 segments, making up the Core Program. For each segment completed, a Guide receives a small badge. When she has completed all 4 segments and two related interest badges she receives the large square badge.

Camping Badges
The camping badges are earned as a Guide learns about camping. They offer a way to gradually build camping skills from overnight residential camping to weekend tent camping to planning your own 24 hour camping experience.

Service Badges
Guide Units participate in commuity service projects as part of the You in Guiding Program Area. Service projects are designed to help girls use their skills, creativity and feelings to make a positive contribution to their community. There are three badges that can be earned: one for community service, one for international service, and one for environmental service.

Interest Badges
There are 84 different Interest Badges that Guides can earn. The badges are divided into 8 categories: Adventures in Guiding, Cookies Rising, Personal Growth, Safety, Girls Creating, Being Healthy, Fun in the Outdoors, and Science and Technology. With so many topics, there is something for everyone - even a Design Your Own Badge!

Lady Baden-Powell Challenge
The Lady Baden-Powell Challenge is the highest award a Guide can earn. To earn this challenge, a Guide must complete all four Program Areas, learn about Lady Baden-Powell, complete a project to help other Guides enjoy their Guiding experience, participate in a major community sergive project, attend 3 Pathfinder meetings, take part in a community activity helping others and share their favourite Guiding experiences.
